This morning we were all saddened to hear of the death of beloved entertainer and musical icon Brendan Bowyer.
Brendan was the front man of The Royal Showband, the first Irish group to top the Irish charts with their international hit ‘The Hucklebuck’, a song which would go on to become one of the defining hits of the Showband Era. Here in Waterford Treasures we are proud to have Brendan’s very own ‘Hucklebuck Shoes’ on display in the Bishop’s Palace where they remind many visitors of youthful evenings spent in dance halls up and down the country. Brendan was a wonderful singer, a natural performer and a national icon, he will be sorely missed. All of us here at Waterford Treasures would like to offer our sincere condolences to his wife Sheila and the rest of his family during this time.
